Living From Truth

ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
sayvak sayv rahay sach raatay jo tayrai man bhaanay.
Your humble servants serve You, O Lord; those who are imbued with the Truth are pleasing to Your Mind.
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਗਿ ਝੂਠੀ ਗੁਣ ਅਵਗਣ ਨ ਪਛਾਣੇ ॥੭॥
dubiDhaa mahal na paavai jag jhoothee gun avgan na pachhaanay. ||7||
Those who are involved in duality do not find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence; caught in the false nature of the world, they do not discriminate between merits and demerits. ||7||

In plain words

Those who serve the One while living from Truth are dear to it, close to its heart.

But a heart split in two — half here, half chasing everything else — never quite finds its way home, and loses track of what helps and what harms.

A divided heart loses track of what matters.
The deeper layer

A heart that lives from Truth is dear to the One, and a heart split in two loses its way home.

Sach raatay means soaked in Truth, in what is real. Those who serve the One this way are tayrai man bhaanay, dear to the One's heart.

DubiDhaa means two-ness, a split heart. It is half here and half chasing everything else. Such a heart misses the mahal, the inner home where the One is found. It can't quite tell what really helps from what really harms.

Jag jhoothee means the false, passing surface of the world. Think of trying to watch two shows at once. You miss the story of both. The split heart mistakes what passes for what is real.

A Question to Sit With

When your heart is pulled in two directions, how do you find your way back?
