Verse 7 of 13

Countless Voices, One Presence

ਅਨਿਕ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੁਰਾਨ ॥
anik saastar simrit puraan.
Many Shaastras, Simritees and Puraanas.
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਬਖਿਆਨ ॥
anik jugat hovat bakhi-aan.
Many ways in which we speak.
ਅਨਿਕ ਸਰੋਤੇ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
anik sarotay suneh niDhaan.
Many listeners listen to the Lord of Treasure.
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੬॥
sarab jee-a pooran bhagvaan. ||6||
The Lord God totally permeates all beings. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Countless holy books, countless ways of explaining them, countless people listening closely to the One who holds every treasure.

And here is the wonder: this same One lives fully inside every living being — completely, with nothing left out.

The One that fills endless books also lives fully inside every living being.
The deeper layer

There are countless holy books and ways to explain them, and the One fills every living being.

Now the counting turns to learning. There are the Shaastras, Simritis and Puraanas, old holy books of India. There are endless ways of explaining them. There are countless listeners, all drinking from the One, the niDhaan, the treasure house.

Then comes the turn: sarab jee-a pooran bhagvaan. The One fills every living being completely.

Think of the sun shining on a whole field of flowers. Each flower gets all of the sunlight, not a small share.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you feel closest to something bigger than yourself — in words, in nature, or in quiet?
