In plain words

Look at the rain falling from the clouds — how beautiful it is. It comes at just the right time, and everything greens up; the grain grows, and the whole world feels cool and calm again.

Something similar happens inside you when you hold what is real in your heart: your body and mind turn fresh and green, like a field after the rains. It is all a gift, freely given. Nanak says: whatever You wish, You do — and I give my whole self to You in wonder and thanks.

Hold what is real in your heart and you turn green inside, like a field after rain.
The deeper layer

Shalok, Fifth Mehl. vuthay maygh suhaavanay — the beautiful rain falls by the Creator's Hukam (Order); grain grows in abundance, and the world is cooled (thaandh pa-ee sansaar). tan man hariaa ho-i-aa — body and mind turn green and rejuvenated through simran (loving remembrance) of the Inaccessible, Infinite One. sad balihaar — forever a sacrifice: wonder and gratitude. The green-and-water motif ties the Vaar's close to renewal.
