O Nanak, meeting with the True Guru, one comes to have faith in the Name; he alone has faith, who is blessed with it. ||9||

In plain words

When you accept the Naam and live from it, peace wells up on its own, and you feel yourself set free. Living from the Naam brings honor, and you carry the One right there inside your heart.

With that acceptance, you cross life's wide and stormy waters, and the things that used to block you stop blocking you. The path ahead becomes clear, and a bright understanding spreads through everything. Nanak says: when you meet the Guru, this trust in the Naam awakens — and it is itself a gift, given to the one who receives it.

Living from what you know is what sets you free.
The deeper layer

Pauri 9, the Mannai (acceptance and inner alignment) pauri — the counterpart to the Suniai pauris, as in Japji, where listening prepares the ground and acceptance is what grows in it. Naa-ay mani-ai means accepting the Name and living from it. The world-ocean (bhavjal) is life's wide and stormy water, and the one who lives from the Name crosses it. The closing jin dayvai so-ee — trust is itself grace, received rather than manufactured.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you believe that you also live by, not just agree with?
