Imagine living so honestly and turned toward the One that you never have to worry about being called to answer for anything. Through the Perfect Guru you find your home, safe and honored wherever you go. Even the things people fear lose their power and become gentle.
And there is a wonder waiting. Nanak says: at the One's door an endless, unstruck music is always playing — most of us are just too busy to hear it. When you grow still and close, you start to hear it, and you blend into the One it comes from.
A life filled with the Naam has nothing to fear, and the One's music is always playing.
It is a pauri, one of the main verses of this Vaar, this long song. Laykhaa parhee-ai har naam — make the Name of the One your account book. Fir laykh na ho-ee — then you will never be called to account again. You are always safe in the One's court.
Then comes a surprising turn. Jamkaal is the Messenger of Death, the thing people fear most. Here it becomes a helper, a servant. That means fear loses its power. Pooray gur tay mahal paa-i-aa — through the Perfect Guru, you find the mahal, the inner home of the One's presence.
Anhad dhunee means the unstruck music. It is a sound that plays all the time, though no one is playing it. You hear it only when you grow still. Think of the quiet hum of the ocean in a seashell. It is there whenever you hold it close and listen.
What do you notice when you get quiet enough to listen?
