Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Mother, my patience is gone. I love my Beloved so much.

There are pleasures of every kind, beautiful beyond compare, and none of them draw me.

Once your heart tastes the deepest joy, the substitutes quietly lose their pull.
The deeper layer

When the heart is full of the Beloved, other pleasures lose their pull.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Calling out maa-ee, mother, is a Gurbani way of pouring out the heart's longing to a trusted listener.

The soul-bride's patience is gone. Biraagi-o is a loving restlessness, a longing that cannot sit still. The deepest joy has filled her, and the smaller joys have no room left. Think of being so excited for a friend to arrive that you cannot even finish your favorite show.

A Question to Sit With

Has loving something deeply ever made lesser versions of it stop interesting you?
