A Hand On The Forehead

ਸੰਤਹ ਚਰਨ ਮੋਰਲੋ ਮਾਥਾ ॥
santeh charan morlo maathaa.
I touch my forehead to the Feet of the Saints.
ਹਮਰੇ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਸੰਤ ਧਰੇ ਹਾਥਾ ॥੧॥
hamray mastak sant Dharay haathaa. ||1||
The Saints have placed their hands on my forehead. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I bow my head low to the ones who love the One, resting my forehead where they walk.

And they answer with the kindest thing — they lay their hands gently on my head, the way you bless someone you care about. Humility is met with tenderness.

Bow to the Guru's people in humility, and you are met with tenderness.
The deeper layer

A tender two-line exchange: the seeker bows, and the saints respond by placing their hands on the forehead — the ancient gesture of blessing. The picture captures the whole relationship: reach toward the Guru's people in humility, and be met with grace.

A Question to Sit With

When has someone met your smallness with unexpected kindness?
