Setting Pride Aside

kara-o nihoraa bahut bayntee sayva-o din rainaa-ee.
I offer all my prayers and entreaties to him; I serve him, day and night.
maan abhimaan ha-o sagal ti-aaga-o jo pari-a baat sunaa-ee. ||3||
I have renounced all pride and egotism; he tells me the stories of my Beloved. ||3||

In plain words

I ask so humbly, and I stay close, ready to help, morning and night.

And I let my pride slip away — all that need to be important or right — because being that open is what lets me finally hear the stories of the One I love. Humility clears the way for closeness.

Setting pride aside clears the way to hear what you most long to hear.
The deeper layer

Serving day and night and setting down pride and ego is the clearing of haumai that makes room to receive. The reward is intimate: the one who has found the Beloved tells the stories, and the longing begins to be fed by nearness to those who know. Humility is not loss here but the opening of a door.

A Question to Sit With

What becomes possible when you let go of needing to be important?
