He is the Giver of the soul, the heart, the breath of life. Being with Him, we are embellished with joy.

Please bless me with Your Gace, O Saint, that I may sing the songs of joyful praise to my God. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One gives me my soul, my heartbeat, the very breath in my chest — and being close to that One fills me with joy.
So I ask for a little kindness: let me sing songs of happiness and praise, out loud and from the inside.
Everything that makes you alive is a gift, and that is a reason to sing.
The Beloved is named as daataa — the Giver of the soul, the heart, and the breath of life. Everything that makes you alive is already a gift, freely given. Then comes a request for grace to sing mangal, songs of joy, the way happiness spills over into song. Grace is received, never earned; the asking is simply becoming open to it.
A Question to Sit With
What is something so good in your life that it makes you want to sing?
