Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One's people carry everyone who walks with them safely across.

Their minds become pure and clean, and the pain of lifetime after lifetime is taken away.

Being near a loving person can quietly change you for the better.
The deeper layer

The One's people lift up everyone who spends time with them.

Har jan means someone devoted to the One. Udhaaray sang kay means they carry up those in their company. This is the "pause" line, the rahaa-o, the center of the shabad.

Being near such a person makes hearts puneet pavitr, clear and clean. Old aches carried for a long, long time are let go. Think of a friend who is always kind. Spend a week with them, and you start being kinder too. Goodness is quietly catching, like a laugh.

A Question to Sit With

Who makes you a better person just by being around them?
