The Guru has become merciful to me; He has removed the veils. Meeting with my Beloved, my mind blossoms forth in abundance. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I keep hearing that You are near, yet I cannot see You, and I wander around, tangled up in doubt.
Then the Guru turns kind and lifts the veil. Meeting the One I love, my heart blossoms green.
What felt far away was near the whole time — doubt was the only veil.
Nikat sun-o... na paykhau — I hear You are near but cannot see You. That is the ache of bharam, doubt, which keeps the One hidden in plain sight. When the Guru laahi paardo, lifts the veil, the Beloved is met and man haree-aa: the mind turns green, blossoming like a watered garden. What felt far was near the whole time; doubt was the only veil.
