The Fortress You Can't Take Alone

bikham thaan bahut baho Dharee-aa anik raakh soorootaa.
The impregnable place is guarded by countless ramparts and warriors.
bikham gaarah kar pahuchai naahee sant saanath bha-ay lootaa. ||1||
This impregnable fortress cannot be touched, but with the assistance of the Saints, I have entered and robbed it. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Some things inside us feel locked up tight, guarded by walls and defenses, impossible to reach alone.

But with the help of the saints, I reached the treasure that was hidden inside all along.

The things you can’t reach alone often open with a little help.
The deeper layer

Bikham thaan — an impregnable place, ringed with ramparts and guards — is the picture of something in us that feels sealed off, impossible to reach by force alone. Then, sant saanath, with the help of the saints, the seeker reaches the treasure hidden inside. The things you cannot reach alone often open with a little help.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you managed only because someone helped you?
