Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Now my mind is soaked in my Master, the One.

The Perfect Guru gave me the gift of my very breath. I am wrapped up in the One, like a fish in water.

You rest in the One the way a fish rests in water.
The deeper layer

My mind now lives in the One the way a fish lives in water.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad.

The main picture is jal meenaa, the fish and the water. Out of water, a fish gasps. In water, it never thinks about it. It just lives.

Paraan daan means the gift of the breath of life. The Guru helped him see that even breathing is a gift.

To be leenaa means to be soaked in, absorbed. You cannot force that. It happens when you finally rest in what was holding you all along.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that makes you feel so at home that you forget any other way to be?
