Night and day, they perform devotional worship services to the Guru; they are embellished with the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||

Those who come humbly before the Guru find their pains taken away.
Day and night they serve the Guru with love, and the Guru's Word makes them beautiful, inside and out.
Coming humbly before the Guru eases the ache.
A humble heart before the Guru finds its pain lifted.
Jo jan deen bha-ay gur aagai tin kay dookh nivaaray — those who become deen, humble, before the Guru have their dookh, their pains, taken away.
An-din bhagat is loving devotion, day and night. Gur kai sabad savaaray — the Guru's Word makes them beautiful. Think of a cup held under a tap. The cup held low, beneath the water, is the one that fills.
A Question to Sit With
When has staying humble opened a door that pride would have kept shut?
