Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Sing of the One, your Master and your own friend.

Put your hope in no one else. Keep the One in mind, the Giver of peace.

The One who holds the whole world is also your nearest friend.
The deeper layer

Su-aamee means Master and meet means friend — set in the same breath, so the One is never a distant ruler but the friend closest to you. Sukh-daata is the Giver of peace; to dhi-aa-ee-ai is to hold that One steadily in mind.

A Question to Sit With

Who do you turn to first when something wonderful or something hard happens — and what would it feel like to share it with the One?
