Says Nanak, that dwelling is sacred, in which Your Saints live. ||2||32||55||

In plain words

The place of the One is sacred. The glory of the One is sacred.

Those who listen for the One and speak of the One are sacred too. Nanak says: any home where Your holy people live is holy, just because they are there.

A place becomes holy through the listening hearts that fill it.
The deeper layer

Holiness lives in people who listen, and it fills any home where they live.

Pavitaraa means sacred and pure. The verse lets holiness spread outward, step by step. First the thaan, the place of the One. Then the maan, the glory. Then sunan kehanhaaray, the people who listen and speak of the One.

Sunan is deep listening, the same Suniai Japji Sahib praises. It is the kind of attention that lets the One in.

So a house doesn't become holy because of its walls. It becomes holy because of who lives there and how they listen. Think of how one warm, kind person can make a whole room feel different.

A Question to Sit With

Is there a place that feels sacred to you because of the people in it? What makes it so?
