Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My mind has found its rest in the Naam of the One.

The Guru planted love in my heart, and now the story of the One is sweet to my mind.

When love is planted in the heart, the story of the One becomes the sweetest thing to hear.
The deeper layer

The mind has found its home in the Name, and the Guru planted that love.

Man raam naam man maanee — my mind is content in the Name. The Name means the One's living presence. This is the settled trust that Japji calls Mannai, "believing and trusting." The mind stops running around and simply rests.

Satgur preet lagaa-ee — the True Guru, the true teacher, planted love in my heart. Think of a gardener pressing a seed into soil. The seed grows, and soon the whole garden smells sweet.

Har kathaa sukhaanee — the story of the One sounds sweet to me. This is what Japji calls Suniai, deep listening. Here it has turned into pure delight. It is like a favorite song you could play again and again.

A Question to Sit With

What's a story or song you never get tired of hearing?
