The Congregation of those humble beings is obtained by great good fortune; Nanak is a sacrifice to the Saints. ||2||41||64||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The saints who know You, O Master — their coming into the world is blessed.

By great good fortune we find the Sangat of Your humble people. Nanak says: I would give myself for the saints.

The Sangat is one of life’s great strokes of fortune.
The deeper layer

Jin santan jaani-aa... aa-ay parvaan — those who know the One, their coming is blessed.

Jan kaa sang... vadbhaagee: by great fortune we find the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. This set of shabads keeps returning to it as one of life’s great graces. Kurbaan, a glad devotion, is love, not loss.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the kind, good-hearted people in your life you feel lucky to be around?
