In plain words

With my eyes I look on the saints and serve them, humbly and gladly. I would wipe their feet with my hair.

All day and night I get to see the saints. Nanak says: this is the peace I have found.

Serving the Guru's people with a humble heart brings peace.
The deeper layer

Serving the saints with a humble heart brings peace all day and night.

Charan jhaaree kaysaa-i-o means wiping someone's feet with your own hair. It is a picture of complete humility and love. It honors the goodness in another person. Think of how someone might care for a grandparent they love, happy to do even the smallest task.

Aath pahar means "all eight watches," the whole day and night. Darsan means the blessing of seeing someone. The reward for serving is simply more of the One's presence.

A Question to Sit With

Is there someone whose goodness you would like to be near more often? What could you do for them?
