Abandoning egotistical pride, sexual desire, anger and slander, he embraces love for the Lord. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My mind turns toward the One again and again, and my voice sings that praise until it feels natural.

I lay down the heavy things I have been hauling — pride, grabbing wants, hot anger, the habit of running others down — and let love for the One take their place.

Set the heavy things down and pick up love instead.
The deeper layer

Taj abhimaan kaam krodh nindaa — setting down pride, craving, anger, slander — is the classic release of the vices, framed here as laying down a load, not self-punishment. What fills the emptied space is rang, the color of love. Aaraadhay is loving remembrance.

A Question to Sit With

Which heavy thing — anger, jealousy, put-downs — would you most like to set down?
