Says Nanak, whoever becomes the dust of all, merges in the Blesed Vision of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||48||71||

In plain words

Hold close the kind and gracious One; keep the Name on your lips and your whole life turns beautiful.

Nanak says, become humble enough to be the dust under everyone's feet — thinking yourself no higher than anyone — and you melt right into the sight of the One.

The humblest heart, thinking itself no higher than anyone, melts into the One.
The deeper layer

Damodar and Gobind are names for the One who keeps the whole universe. Sabh kee ho-ay raynaa — becoming the dust of all — is a radical humility that levels every hierarchy; from there one samaavai, merges, in daras, the seeing. Humility is the doorway, not a defeat.

A Question to Sit With

What is the difference between feeling small and feeling humble?
