He makes His servants and slaves fearless, and takes away all their pain.

So renounce all other efforts, and enshrine the Lord's Lotus Feet within your mind. ||1||

In plain words

The One makes those who serve completely fearless, and tears away all their pain.

So set down every other scramble and plan, and plant the One's steps right in the middle of your heart.

Set down the endless scrambling and plant one thing in your heart.
The deeper layer

The One takes away fear and lets us set down our many worries.

Nirbha-o kee-ay means "made fearless." Being without fear is a theme these Saarang hymns return to again and again. The One also takes away all the pain of those who serve.

Aan upaav ti-aag means "let go of all other schemes." That clears the way for charan kamal rid dhaarai, holding the lotus feet of the One in the heart. The lotus feet are a loving picture of the One's steady presence. Think of a climber clutching ten wobbly handholds at once. One strong rope is safer than all of them. The heart needs one anchor, not many props.

A Question to Sit With

What is one thing you keep scrambling to control that you could try trusting instead?
