So join together with the humble Saints, O madman, and you shall find the Gate of Salvation.

Without the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, no one finds any peace. Go and ask the scholars of the Vedas. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Join the saints, restless heart, and the door to freedom opens.

No one has ever found peace without the Sangat. Go and ask the wise who study the Vedas.

No one finds deep peace completely alone.
The deeper layer

Peace is found in the Sangat, together.

Sant janaa kai sang means together with the saints, the people who love the One. Being with them opens mokh du-aar, the gate to freedom. Think of how much easier homework feels when a kind friend sits beside you.

Satsang is the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Without it, no one finds peace.

Then it adds jaa-ay poochhahu bayd beechaar: go and ask the scholars of the Vedas, the ancient Hindu scriptures. The Guru calls on shared wisdom here. Wise people in many traditions have said the same: we grow best together.

A Question to Sit With

Who helps you feel most at peace when you're with them?
