Drenched Just by Listening

sun har gun bheenay sahj subhaa-ay.
Hearing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, I am intuitively drenched with His Love.
gurmat sehjay naam Dhi-aa-ay.
Under Guru's Instruction, I meditate intuitively on the Naam.
jin ka-o Dhur likhi-aa tin gur mili-aa tin janam maran bha-o bhaagaa.
Those who have such pre-ordained destiny, meet the Guru, and their fears of birth and death leave them.
andrahu durmat doojee kho-ee so jan har liv laagaa.
One who eliminates evil-mindedness and duality from within himself, that humble being lovingly focuses his mind on the Lord.
Those, upon whom my Lord and Master bestows His Grace, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day.
sun man bheenay sahj subhaa-ay. ||2||
Hearing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, I am intuitively drenched with His Love. ||2||

In plain words

Just hearing the One's praises, I feel soaked through with love, gently and naturally. Guided by the Teacher, I hold the Name with ease.

Those whose hearts have long been ready meet the Teacher, and their fear of endings and beginnings lifts. When someone clears the muddled, split-in-two thinking from inside, their heart tunes lovingly to the One.

Those the One is kind to sing His praises all day and night. Just listening, my heart is drenched, gently and naturally.

Real listening lets the good soak in gently, all on its own.
The deeper layer

sun har gun bheenay sahj subhaa-ay — hearing the praises, drenched (bheenay) in sahaj, natural ease. This is Suniai, deep listening: not passive hearing but a receptive attention that lets the praise soak in. andrahu durmat doojee kho-ee — clearing away durmat (muddled thinking) and doojaa (the split, two-minded pull) so the heart can settle into liv, loving focus. The whole thing happens sahj subhaa-ay, naturally, without strain.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you can take in just by listening carefully and quietly?
