Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Those who serve the true Teacher, the Giver, melt into the Name of the One. Bless me with the dust of the Perfect Teacher's feet — even one who has slipped up is lifted free.
Even the one who stumbled is set free by letting the small self dissolve, finding a home within their own heart.
With clear, discerning understanding, the night of their life passes in peace, and through the Teacher the Name lights them up. Through the One there is joy day and night, and the One grows sweet. Those who serve the true Teacher, the Giver, melt into the Name.
ham paapee mukat karaa-i-aa — even one who has done wrong is set free: we render paapee as the one who has stumbled or slipped, honest but never self-condemning, because the whole point is liberation, not shame. har dhoorh dayvhu — asking for the dhoorh, the dust of the Teacher's feet, is an image of deepest humility. bibayk budhee — clear, discerning wisdom lets the rain vihaanee, the night of life, pass in peace. The closing tally ||4||6||7||5||7||12|| seals this cluster of Soohee chhants. The keynote: no one is beyond being lifted.
Have you ever forgiven yourself for a mistake and felt lighter and freer afterward?
