sammHli-aa sach thaan maan mahat sach paa-i-aa bal raam jee-o.
Contemplating, dwelling upon the Lord's true home, I receive honor, greatness and truth. I am a sacrifice to the Lord.

satgur mili-aa da-i-aal gun abhinaasee gaa-i-aa bal raam jee-o.
Meeting the Merciful True Guru, I sing the Praises of the Imperishable Lord. I am a sacrifice to the Lord.

Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, continually, continuously; He is the Beloved Master of the breath of life.
subh divas aa-ay geh kanth laa-ay milay antarjaamee-aa.
Good times have come; the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, has met me, and hugged me close in His Embrace.
sat santokh vajeh vaajay anhadaa jhunkaaray.
The musical instruments of truth and contentment vibrate, and the unstruck melody of the sound current resounds.
sun bhai binaasay sagal naanak parabh purakh karnaihaaray. ||3||
Hearing this, all my fears have been dispelled; O Nanak, God is the Primal Being, the Creator Lord. ||3||

In plain words

Resting my mind in the One's true home, I find real honor and worth.

Meeting the kind Teacher, I sing the One who never fades — the Beloved of my very breath.

Good days have come: the One who knows my heart from within has held me close. Inside, the music of truth and contentment plays, a soundless melody rings, and hearing it, all my fears fall away.

When the One holds you close, fear simply falls away.
The deeper layer

subh divas aa-ay — good days have come, a note of arrival and relief. geh kanth laa-ay: the tender image of being hugged close by the antarjaamee, the One who knows the heart from inside. sat santokh vajeh vaajay — truth and contentment themselves become instruments playing the anhad, unstruck melody: inner well-being felt as music. Fear dissolves in that hearing.

A Question to Sit With

What is a moment when everything suddenly felt like it was going to be okay?
