In plain words

My God is the treasure of every virtue — what praise could ever be enough?

So here is the one request good people make: give us the sweetest gift of all, Your Name.

Give us the Name, and never let us forget You even for a moment; let our tongues sing the One, night and day. Whoever loves the Name is soaked through, mind and body, in sweetness — and my one wish, fulfilled, is simply to see You and live.

The one thing worth asking for is the Giver, not the gifts.
The deeper layer

The people who love the One ask for just one gift: the Name.

Gun niDhaan mayraa prabh kartaa — my Creator is a niDhaan, a treasure chest, of every good quality. How could anyone praise enough?

Naam mahaa ras deejai — "Give us the sweetest taste of all, Your Name." Love wants the Giver, not only the gifts. Think of a child who would rather have a day with Grandpa than any toy he could buy.

Bisar naahee ik khino — "Don't let us forget You, even for a moment."

Paykh darsan jeejai — "Seeing You, I live." Just seeing the One is life itself.

A Question to Sit With

If you could ask for only one gift and keep it forever, what would it be?
