The fire of desire was extinguished in an instant, when I met the Guru; all my hunger has been satisfied. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

A deep peace has settled into my mind.

The burning restlessness of always wanting more went out in a single moment when I met the Guru, and the endless hunger finally quieted.

The fire of always wanting more can go quiet the moment you feel truly full.
The deeper layer

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Its message: meeting the Guru put out the fire of always wanting more.

Tisnaa agan bujhee khin antar — the fire of craving went out in an instant. Tisnaa means thirst, the kind of wanting that never stops. Khin antar means in a single moment.

Think of wanting a new game, then the next one, then the next. That restless itch is the fire. The verse says it went out the moment the poet met the Guru. The hunger quieted. In its place came peace, set down in the mind by the One. Wanting turned into feeling full.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like when a craving finally lets go of you?
