Sikhism·Raag Soohee·Shabad 133
Verse 3 of 4

The One Who Gave You Life Will Feed You

ਜਿਨਿ ਜੀਉ ਦੀਆ ਸੁ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਅੰਬਰਾਵੈ ॥
jin jee-o dee-aa so rijak ambraavai.
The One who gave you life shall also provide you with nourishment.
ਸਭ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਹਾਟੁ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥
sabh ghat bheetar haat chalaavai.
In each and every heart, He runs His shop.
ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦਿਗੀ ਛਾਡਿ ਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
kar bandigee chhaad mai mayraa.
Meditate on the Lord, and renounce your egotism and self-conceit.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਿ ਸਵੇਰਾ ॥੨॥
hirdai naam samHaar savayraa. ||2||
Within your heart, contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord, sometime. ||2||

In plain words

The same One who gave you your life also fills the whole world with everything that keeps you going — living quietly in every single heart.

So you can let go of the tight grip of me and mine and rest a little. Keep the Name close in your heart, starting early and often, and let a calm trust carry you.

The One who gave you life provides for you — so you can loosen your grip and trust.
The deeper layer

jin jee-o dee-aa so rijak ambraavai — the One who gave life provides rijak (nourishment). sabh ghat bheetar haat chalaavai — runs the shop within every heart. kar bandigee chhaad mai mayraa — do bandagee (loving devotion), drop me and mine. hirdai naam samHaar savayraa — keep the Name in the heart, early. The carefree-Provider theme: who made you will feed you.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you're taken care of by that you don't have to worry about at all?
