Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My Master, You alone truly know the state of things deep inside me, the parts no one else can see.

You see all of it clearly, and it is by Your flow that the words even come to my lips.

The One reads your inside truly, before a single word is spoken.
The deeper layer

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. It says the One knows us from the inside.

The One knows antar kee biDh — how things are inside me. Antar means inside, the part no one else can see. A good doctor can sometimes tell you are sick before you say a word. In the same way, the One knows the real state of our hearts.

Then: tuDh bhaavai tivai bulaaveh — as it pleases You, so You make us speak. Even our words come from the One's will. Sikhs call this the Hukam, the order and flow of all things.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you feel inside that would be hard to put into words for anyone else?
