The Body Made For Devotion

sabh moh maa-i-aa sareer har kee-aa vich dayhee maanukh bhagat karaa-ee.
The Lord has infused the love of Maya into all bodies; through this human body, there comes the opportunity to worship the Lord with devotion.
iknaa satgur mayl sukh dayveh ik manmukh DhanDh pitaa-ee. ||2||
You unite some with the True Guru, and bless them with peace; while others, the self-willed manmukhs, are engrossed in worldly affairs. ||2||

In plain words

The pull of the world runs through every body. Yet this very human life is also the chance to turn toward the One with love.

Some are drawn to meet the Guru and find real peace. Others get so caught up chasing after things. They forget to look up.

This human life is the very chance to turn toward the One.
The deeper layer

This human life is a chance to love the One.

Sabh moh maa-i-aa sareer har kee-aa — the One placed moh and maa-i-aa in every body. Moh means attachment, holding on tight. Maa-i-aa is the pull of the world and its things. Yet vich dayhee maanukh bhagat karaa-ee — in this human body, loving devotion becomes possible.

Then come two paths. Some meet the Guru and find peace. Others, the manmukh — people who follow only their own wants — stay busy with worldly chores. Think of a phone full of games that also holds the number of someone who loves you. Same phone. It's what you choose to open. The verse doesn't condemn anyone. It just shows where attention turns.

A Question to Sit With

What pulls your attention away from what matters most, and what helps you turn back?
