In plain words

Which of my Beloved's beautiful qualities could I even begin to describe?

The One knows everything, and is wholly beautiful and full of kindness. The One gently melts away the ego that keeps us feeling apart.

Naming what you love about the One is its own kind of love.
The deeper layer

This is the heart of the shabad: my Beloved is so good, I don't know which quality to name first.

This line is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the whole shabad. Kavan kahaa gun kant pi-aaray means "which good qualities of my dear Beloved can I tell?" Sugharh saroop da-i-aal muraaray means wise, beautiful, kind, and muraaray. Muraaray means the destroyer, and here what gets destroyed is ego.

Just naming these qualities is a way of loving. Think of telling a friend why your grandma is the best. Every reason you list makes you love her more. And the last quality reminds us that the beauty we praise is also what heals us.

A Question to Sit With

What three qualities would you use to describe someone you deeply admire?
