In plain words

The sun has come up inside me and its light is shining everywhere. I have made my heart ready with boundless trust.

The love that had felt so far away is fresh and near again, and my whole being finds peace in that meeting.

When trust is ready, the light we longed for turns out to be near.
The deeper layer

Guru Arjan is saying: the sun has come up inside, and the heart has found its home.

Pargati-aa soor jot ujee-aaraa means "the sun has risen, and its light is shining." This sunrise is waking up on the inside. Sayj vichhaa-ee saraDh apaaraa means the heart has been made ready with saraDh, trust and faith, with no limit.

Think of waking early and watching the whole sky turn gold. Everything that was dark is suddenly easy to see. Jan naanak pir Dhan mil sukh paa-i-aa means the soul-bride meets the Beloved and finds sukh, peace. This is the soul meeting the One. It is a settled joy, like finally arriving home.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like inside when something you longed for finally arrives?
