I Cannot Last a Moment Without You

bha-ee niraasee bahut din laagay.
She has lost hope - so many days have passed.
days disantar mai saglay jhaagay.
I have travelled through all the lands and the countries.
khin rahan na paava-o bin pag paagay.
I cannot survive, even for an instant, without the feet of my Beloved.
ho-ay kirpaal parabh milah sabhaagay. ||3||
When God becomes Merciful, I become fortunate, and then I meet Him. ||3||

In plain words

Hope grew thin as the days dragged on, and I searched through every land and country.

I cannot last even a moment away from the One I love — and the instant grace touches me, I become lucky, and I meet the Beloved.

You meet the One not by traveling farther but by grace, right where you are.
The deeper layer

This one means the long outside search wears out, and grace completes the meeting.

The seeker has lost hope. So many days have passed. days disantar mai saglay jhaagay — I have searched through every land and country.

All that travel wears out for a reason. It teaches that meeting the One was never about going far. Then comes the cry: I cannot last even a moment without my Beloved.

ho-ay kirpaal parabh milah sabhaagay — when the One is kirpaal, kind and giving, I am blessed, and we meet. Grace is always there. It is received as a gift. It arrives when we stop straining. Think of hunting all over the house for your glasses, then finding them on your head.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever searched hard for something that was closer than you thought?
