jal thal mahee-al pooran biDhaataa. ||4||3||9||
The Perfect Architect of Destiny is pervading and permeating the water, the land and the sky. ||4||3||9||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When I met the teacher, I finally came to know the One for myself.

And there it was — the perfect Shaper of everything, filling the water, the land, and the sky all along.

The One we look for in objects was filling everything all along.
The deeper layer

The luminous close: gur mil naanak thaakur jaataa — the One is known, not just believed. jal thal mahee-al pooran biDhaataa — the very One we looked for in a stone was pervading water, land, and sky the whole time. The shabad ends not in warning but in seeing: the sacred was everywhere, waiting to be recognized.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you feel the presence of something bigger than yourself — outdoors, with people, in quiet?
