This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. It gives the raag its name. Soohab soohab soohvee — crimson, crimson, crimson. Soohee is a deep red, the color of a bride's dress on her wedding day. It is also the color of a heart dyed in love.
Apnay preetam kai rang ratee — she is colored in the love of her preetam, her Beloved. Think of a white shirt dropped into a bucket of red dye. When it comes out, every thread is red. Love for the One is meant to soak in like that.
