Wherever You Send Me

ਪਾਵ ਮਲੋਵਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੈਨ ਭਤੀਰੀ ॥
paav malova-o sang nain bhateeree.
I wash Your Feet with my eye-lashes.
ਜਹਾ ਪਠਾਵਹੁ ਜਾਂਉ ਤਤੀ ਰੀ ॥੨॥
jahaa pathaavhu jaaN-o tatee ree. ||2||
Wherever You send me, there I will go. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I would tend to You with the greatest care, as gently as brushing dust away with my own eyelashes.

And wherever You might send me, there I would gladly go.

Real love is both tender and ready to go wherever it is needed.
The deeper layer

Real love is gentle, and it is also ready to go wherever it is needed.

Paav malova-o sang nain bhateeree — "I would wash Your feet with my eyelashes." Eyelashes are the softest, most careful thing we have. The picture shows the most tender kind of care you can imagine.

Jahaa pathaavhu jaaN-o tatee ree — "wherever You send me, there I will go." This is readiness to act. Think of a nurse who is gentle with every patient, and who also runs the moment someone calls for help.

Love here has both sides. It is tender, and it is ready to get up and go.

A Question to Sit With

Who would you go a long way to help without a second thought?
