Verse 3 of 5

Where the Saints Celebrate

ਤਹ ਗੀਤ ਨਾਦ ਅਖਾਰੇ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
tah geet naad akhaaray sangaa.
There, in the arena of the congregation, the divine music of the Naad, the sound current, is sung.
ਊਹਾ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਾ ॥੨॥
oohaa sant karahi har rangaa. ||2||
There, the Saints celebrate with their Lord. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In the gathering of loving hearts, a beautiful inner music rises up and is sung.

There, good people celebrate together in the joy of the One.

Joy shared with good people is a kind of music.
The deeper layer

teh geet naad akhaaray sangaa — the sangat is pictured as an akhaaraa, an arena, filled with the naad, the inner sound-current. Celebration, not solemn duty, is the keynote: sant karahi har rangaa, the Saints revel in the divine.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt the pure joy of celebrating something with others?
