The One Who Knows Every Heart

ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
so har mayraa antarjaamee.
He is my Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhagat janaa kai sang su-aamee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
My Lord and Master abides with His humble devotees. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

This One I love knows what is happening inside me, better than I do.

And this One makes a home right among the people who love with open hearts.

The One who knows you completely also loves you completely.
The deeper layer

This is the heart of the shabad: the One knows us from the inside and loves to be with us.

This line is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the whole shabad. So har mayraa antarjaamee means "that One is my antarjaamee." An antarjaamee is the inner-knower, the one who understands your heart from the inside.

Bhagat janaa kai sang su-aamee means the Master stays close to those who love. Think of a parent who can tell from one look that you had a bad day, and still hugs you. To be fully known and still fully loved is the quiet comfort of this line.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to be truly known by someone who loves you anyway?
