In plain words

You are tied up by grabbing wants, anger, greed and clinging.

You are slipping down into deep trouble.

You cannot untie a knot you will not look at.
The deeper layer

This verse says that four strong feelings can tie us up like ropes.

Kaam krodh lobh mohi baadhaa: tied up by kaam, grabbing desire; krodh, anger; lobh, greed; and moh, clinging to people and things. Baadhaa means bound, tied.

The verse then says a person tied up like this is sinking into a deep pit. Its point is not doom. A knot is something you can loosen. The ego and its pulls are more like a sickness that can heal than a sentence that can't change.

Think of a tangled necklace. Pull hard and it gets worse. Look at it calmly, and one loop at a time, it comes free.

A Question to Sit With

Which feeling ties you up the most — and what helps you loosen it?
