within whose heart the Lord dwells. ||4||15||21||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Nanak says: I would give my all for that person,
in whose heart the One has made a home.
A heart that has become home to the One is worth being near.
This verse ends the shabad by honoring a heart where the One lives.
Kaho naanak tis jan balihaaree: Nanak says, I would give my all for that person. Balihaaree means offering everything out of love and respect.
Jaa kai hirdai vaseh muraaree: in whose hirdai, heart, the One lives. Muraaree is an old name for God.
Think of a person who is calm and kind, and you just feel better being around them. They are like a warm kitchen on a cold day. The shabad closes by honoring that kind of awake, settled heart.
A Question to Sit With
Who is someone whose calm, kind presence you would like to be more like?
