The Humble Feet That Wash Away The Past

ਕਰਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਬਾਛਾਹਾ ॥
kar bayntee jan Dhoor baachhaahaa.
I pray for the dust of the feet of the humble.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਲਾਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
janam janam kay kilvikh laahaaN. ||2||
It shall wash away the sins of countless incarnations. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I ask, humbly, just to sit at the feet of good people and learn.

Being near them has a way of washing off old mistakes, the way rain rinses dust from leaves.

Humble time near good people quietly rinses the old dust away.
The deeper layer

kar bayntee jan Dhoor baachhaahaa — praying for the dhoor (dust) of the humble. janam janam kay kilvikh laahaaN — washing away kilvikh (faults) of many lives. Humility as cleansing.
