Freed From A Dream That Trapped Me

ਤੁਮਹਿ ਛਡਾਇ ਲੀਓ ਜਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
tumeh chhadaa-ay lee-o jan apnaa.
You emancipate Your humble servant,
ਉਰਝਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਜਾਲੁ ਜਗੁ ਸੁਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
urajh pari-o jaal jag supnaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and rescue him from the noose of the world, which is just a dream. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You set me free, lifting me out of a tangle that had wrapped all around me.

And I saw that the whole tangle was passing, like a dream you wake up from and it loosens its grip.

Some things that trap us loosen the moment we see they are passing.
The deeper layer

tumeh chhadaa-ay lee-o jan apnaa — You chhadaa-ay (free) Your servant. urajh pari-o jaal jag supnaa — caught in the jaal (net) of the world, which is a supna (dream). The trap dissolves when its dreamlike nature is seen. This is the Pause line.

A Question to Sit With

Has a worry ever felt huge until you realized it would not last?
