Sikhism·Raag Soohee·Shabad 53
Verse 2 of 5

Without You, Who Is Mine?

paykh paykh jeevaa daras tumHaaraa.
Gazing upon, beholding the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, I live;
charan kamal jaa-ee balihaaraa.
I am a sacrifice to Your Lotus Feet.
tujh bin thaakur kavan hamaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Without You, O my Lord and Master, who belongs to me? ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Just seeing You, I come alive; I feel deep devotion resting at Your feet.

Honestly — without You, who do I even have? You are the one who is truly mine.

Knowing whose you are answers the loneliest question.
The deeper layer

paykh paykh jeevaa daras tumHaaraa — beholding the daras (sight), “I live.” tujh bin thaakur kavan hamaaraa — “without You, who is mine?” This three-line verse is the Pause, the heart of the shabad.

A Question to Sit With

Who is someone you know you can always count on to be yours?
