A Hand Reaching Down to Lift You

ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਢੇ ॥
baah pakar parabh aapay kaadhay.
Reaching out to grasp hold of our arms, God lifts us up.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਟੂਟੇ ਗਾਢੇ ॥੩॥
janam janam kay tootay gaadhay. ||3||
Separated for countless incarnations, we are united with Him again. ||3||

In plain words

When you feel stuck, a hand reaches out, takes hold of your arm, and lifts you up.

Things that felt broken and far apart for the longest time are joined back together.

A hand reaches down to lift you when you are stuck.
The deeper layer

When we are stuck, the One reaches down and lifts us up.

Baah pakar prabh aapay kaadhay: taking hold of our arm, the One pulls us out. Picture a friend at the swimming pool grabbing your arm and helping you climb out.

Janam janam kay tootay gaadhay: what was broken apart for lifetimes is joined back together. It is like a broken bone set right, so it can heal.

This picture is about repair and coming back together. It is not about being rescued from a punishment. It is about being loved back into one piece.

A Question to Sit With

When has someone reached out and lifted you at just the right moment?
