Carry me through, One — pour a little kindness over me.
I have come and I am standing right here at Your door, hoping to be let in.
It is enough to come, stand at the door, and honestly ask.
The shabad ends with a simple, honest ask.
UDhar su-aamee prabh kirpaa Dhaaray: carry me across, my Master, and show me kindness. Naanak daas har saran du-aaray: the Guru, calling himself a servant, stands at the One's door, asking for shelter.
There is no shame in asking. It is like knocking on a friend's door when you need help and trusting they will open it.
This humble asking is exactly the way of living the whole shabad has been describing.
A Question to Sit With
Is there something you have been wanting to ask for but have not yet?
