Let Me Hear Some News of You, Beloved

ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦੜਾ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬਹੈ ਅਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tayraa sad-rhaa suneejai bhaa-ee jay ko bahai alaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Let me hear some news of You, O Beloved; if only someone would come and sit with me, and tell me. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

More than any of that, I just want to hear news of You, Beloved.

If only someone would come and sit beside me and tell me about You — that is what my heart is aching for.

Underneath every practice is a heart longing to be close.
The deeper layer

The Rahao is the ache under all the practices: tayraa sadrhaa suneejai bhaa-ee — let me just hear word of You, if someone would sit and speak of the Beloved. Longing, not technique, is the heart of the shabad.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you long to hear or know more about?
