Sikhism·Raag Soohee·Shabad 6
Verse 3 of 5

You Harvest What You Plant

jaisaa beejai so lunay jo khatay so khaa-ay.
As one plants, so does he harvest; whatever he earns, he eats.
In the world hereafter, his account is not called for, if he goes with the insignia of the Lord. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Whatever seed you plant is the crop you will gather; whatever you earn is what feeds you.

And if you carry the One's mark on you — a heart that remembers — then there is nothing to fear when everything is counted.

What you plant with your actions is what grows in your life.
The deeper layer

jaisaa beejai so lunay — as you sow, so you reap; jo khatay so khaa-ay, what you earn feeds you. And carrying the One's neesaanai, mark, there is nothing to fear in the final counting. Cause and effect, held in trust rather than dread.

A Question to Sit With

What is a good seed you could plant today?
