Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My Sovereign, good people lean on You — You are their support.

Whatever fits Your flow, they welcome; You are the strength of their minds and bodies.

The steady ones welcome whatever comes, because they lean on the One.
The deeper layer

This is the rahaa-o line, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. It says good people lean on the One.

Mayray raam raa-ay santaa tayk tumHaaree means "my Sovereign, You are the tayk, the support, of the sants." A sant is a good, steady person. Jo tuDh bhaavai so parvaan means whatever pleases You, they accept. Man tan toohai aDhaaree means You hold up their minds and bodies.

So the mark of a steady heart is parvaan, acceptance. Think of leaning on a strong wall when you are tired. You stop pushing and let it hold you. People who lean on the One can welcome what comes, because they are held.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you accept something you cannot change?
