Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are gentle and full of mercy, a deep well of kindness, the one who fills in what we hope for.

You are the beloved of all who love You — and You love them right back.

Real love flows both ways, given and given back.
The deeper layer

This one says love between the One and people flows both ways.

The first line piles up names of kindness. Da-i-aal means kind. Kirpaal means caring. Kirpaa niDh means a treasure of mercy. Mansaa pooranhaaraa means the One who fills our deepest hopes.

Then comes the turn: too bhagtan kaa pi-aaraa, "You are the beloved of Your devotees." People love the One, and the One loves them right back.

Think of waving to a friend across the playground and seeing them wave back even harder. That is the kind of love this verse means.

A Question to Sit With

Who is someone whose love for you you can feel flowing both ways?
